The Asia Pacific region, including Indonesia, has become a focal point of strong private equity investment flows as investors continue to globalize and international funds seek return profiles which are becoming increasingly challenging to realise in European and US markets alone.

We advise fund managers and private equity houses on all aspects of the industry, from fundraising and structuring to buyouts, public to privates and portfolio assistance, including restructuring advice. Our private equity team's expertise is further supported by our first-class corporate and finance teams. In the past five years, we have also worked with Sovereign Wealth Funds on their transactions in Indonesia.

Recent significant transactions include advising:

  • a Japanese financial institution: advising on the establishment of a fund structure in Indonesia to invest in social infrastructure assets in Indonesia.
  • Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB): advising on its acquisition of a 45% stake in PT Lintas Marga Sedaya (LMS), the concession holder and operator of the Cipali toll road.
  • EdgePoint Infrastructure: advising on its successful US$750m sale-and-leaseback acquisition of more than 4,200 telecommunications towers from PT Indosat Tbk. (Indosat Ooredoo), one of Indonesia’s leading digital telecoms providers in Indonesia.
  • Farallon Capital, Temasek and The Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited: advising on their respective Series D, E and F investments into Gojek, Indonesia's first unicorn and leading on-demand services company.
