Pandji Y Zakia obtained his Master of Laws degree (Sarjana Hukum) from Universitas Indonesia in 1985. In 1989, he completed a course on international and comparative law held by the Southwestern Legal Foundation, at the University of Texas, Dallas. In 1998, he completed a post-graduate program at The Institute of Business Law & Legal Management (LPIHM), Jakarta.

After graduation, Mr Zakia participated in Sekdilu (Sekolah Dinas Luar Negeri / Special Education for Diplomats) and was appointed to the staff for Special Assignments, at the Directorate of International Agreement, of the Indonesian Department of Foreign Affairs (DEPLU). Mr Zakia resigned from DEPLU in 1987 to take a position with Atlantic Richfield Indonesia Inc. (ARCO Indonesia). During this period he was a member of New Venture Team of Atlantic Richfield Bali North Inc. (ARBNI), Atlantic Richfield Kalosi Inc. (ARKL) and Atlantic Richfield Wiriagar Inc, (ARWI) Irian Jaya.

After resigning as a senior attorney of ARCO Indonesia in 1997, Mr Zakia took up a position as a legal manager of PT CATV / PT BIO (a subsidiary of PT Bakrie Investindo). In 1999, he was appointed a senior legal manager of PT Pramindo (a telecom company, subsidiary of PT Astra International & France Cables et Radio/ FCR), where he headed the Legal Department of PT Pramindo. In 2000, Mr Zakia opened up a private legal practice, and served as a legal consultant to several PMA/multinational companies, providing advice in the areas of general corporate, investment, multimedia and power business.

In 2001, Mr Zakia joined Wiriadinata & Widyawan as Senior Associate. He joined Widyawan & Partners as a senior associate in 2005.

Mr Zakia's specialisations include all aspects of energy, such as oil and gas (downstream and upstream), power generation, general mining, geothermal, general corporate and investment.

He speaks fluent English and Indonesian.
